This interesting Chalet cuckoo clock features a long day coming to its end. Starting from the left hand side facing the clock, a weary traveler can be seen rushing home. His small brown dog companion scurries along at his side. Behind him is an arch of stonework with a wooden roof, meant to resemble the entrance to the town. The traveler is shown walking on a grey path of gravel that curves to the right towards the rest of the scene. The path is bordered by a short fence complimented by green shrubs. Two men can be seen in front of the house enjoying the last few beers of the evening before the day comes to a close. They are seated on high back chairs at a rustic wooden table. Each is dressed in traditional German lederhosen with dark green hats and bright white shirts. To their right, a tabby cat is perched on a wooden bench, patiently regarding the action enfolding around him.
On the far right side is the clock’s most impressive element – a Night Watchman and his guardhouse. The guardhouse is done in a medium brown stain and is accented with stonework similar to the arch on the other side of the clock. The guardhouse also has a turret finished with a darker brown stain than its walls. The Night Watchman himself is shown emerging from his guardhouse, complete with a lantern and his easily recognizable halberd. He has a long grey coat with baggy brown pants and thick grey boots. The first story windows have green shutters and brown trim with colorful flower boxes. There is only one window on the second story, placed at the top left of the clock’s dial, which is large and easy to read. The window has no shutters, but possesses the same brown trim and flower box.
The first two stories have exposed and angled dark wooden timbers, with a lighter wooden used as the base. The third story uses the same timbers and angled pattern, but uses white stucco as a base. This creates a delightful contrast. The cuckoo door is dark brown with light brown trim, matching a small window that can be seen at the peak of the roof. The roof itself is steeply angled and is finished with the same stain used for the exposed timbers. The figurines and the shape of this clock are highly unique, making it the perfect choice for those looking for something out of the ordinary.
