A beautiful and intricately carved wooden sculpture, this statue of St. Paul holding a book and a large sword is hand carved from maple wood and painted with oil based paint in a beautiful variety of blended and lightly textured colors. The design also features gold plated accents painted throughout the inner areas of the robe and the edges of many of the lines throughout the sculpture. From his calm, peaceful expression and flowing green and gold robe with a white undergarment to his book and sword in hand, this sculpture is an amazingly lifelike representation of Paul the Apostle. The book symbolizes Paul in the Book of Acts and the sword symbolizes his death as a martyr at the hands of the Roman Emperor.
