A beautiful and intricately carved wooden sculpture, this statue of Saint Martin on horseback is carved from maple wood and painted with oil based paint in a beautiful variety of blended and lightly textured colors. The design also features gold plated accents painted along the edges of many of the lines throughout the sculpture. From his bold, intense expression and ornate military uniform complete with his sword and flowing military cape, this sculpture is an amazingly lifelike representation of Martin of Tours. St. Martin is shown bringing his horse to a halt beside a beggar as he holds his sword to his cape, ready to cut it in half to provide shelter for the poor man.
