A beautiful and intricately carved wooden sculpture, this statue of St. Christopher holding a large tree branch as a walking stick is hand carved from maple wood and painted with oil based paint in a beautiful variety of blended and lightly textured colors. The design also features gold plated accents painted along the edges of many of the lines throughout the sculpture. With his bold, adventurous expression and large stature, this sculpture is an amazingly lifelike representation of St. Christopher. A representation of Jesus as a child sits upon his shoulders in reference to the name Christopher meaning Christ bearer, and a story from long ago about Christopher carrying a child and other travelers across a river to safety.
