A splendid cuckoo clock that showcases exceptional woodland beauty. Depicting a rustic forested chalet, the cottage is fashioned with the detailed touches of a wooden plank front and green shuttered windows decorated with floral boxes. The sloping roofs are constructed with miniature weathered shingles, as a wooden chimney emerges from the one inclining side. Beneath the open gable, an ornate trim carved to resemble tree trunks with branches and leaves adorn the underside of the chalet’s roof. The cuckoo calls from its door situated above an upper balcony; as below, dancing couples spin around on the open entryway to the clock’s music upon the hour.
At the far end of the balcony, a small black and red bird sits perched upon one of the adornment reliefs decorating the wooden trim. While the avian sits cozily, it has been spied upon by a watchful hunter below on the clock’s base. Attired in boots, a hunter’s cap, and a green and brown cloak, the gentleman gazes up at his target. Brandishing a rifle in one hand, he takes aim, raising it up and down in the bird’s general direction. Besides his feet, the hunter’s loyal dog stands at attention, gazing upon a deer at the far side of the clock’s base. The deer grazes upon the forest foliage surrounding it, while behind the animal, a rustic waterwheel spins leisurely along to the melody of the clock’s music box.
The woodland tableau is further accented by the touches of fir trees, logs, and a wooden fence. Towards the far corner of the woodsy chalet, rests a bench sheltered beneath a miniature roof mounted to a post. At the furthest end, a wooden water pump and trough is situated amongst the trees and foliage details.
