This stunning hand carved nutcracker is dressed in the traditional German outfit of a Bayer, a German term meaning a real Bavarian. His outfit features a traditional, alpine, dark green trachten style hat, complete with a traditionally included Gamsbart, or tuft of hair in the back of the hat which also features a red woven band. His outfit also includes a bright red jacket and belt accented with a silver belt buckle and buttons, lederhosen or leather pants, tall grey and green banded socks and black laced shoes. This proud Bavarian is holding his blue and grey beer stein and a traditional Bavarian snack, a tasty green and white radish picked fresh from the local farm. The glaze brushed over this nutcracker brings out the beautiful details in the wood grain.
