A beautiful and intricately carved wooden sculpture, this statue of St. John the Baptist holding a large cross shaped staff is hand carved from maple wood and painted with oil based paint in a beautiful variety of blended and lightly textured colors. The design also features gold plated accents painted along the edges of many of the lines throughout the sculpture. From his calm, peaceful expression and flowing red and gold robe complete with a woolen undergarment and a lamb standing by his side, this sculpture is an amazingly lifelike representation of John the Baptist.
