8-Day Black Forest Cuckoo Clock
This splendid cuckoo clock is a remarkable timepiece that highlights a different kind of location for the chalet style. Drawing inspiration from traditional German villages, this particular clock depicts a Rathaus (town hall) style building. The structure features a stately white with brown timbered trim front, flanked on either side by wooden turrets. Windows line each wall of the small towers, decorated with red striped shutters, and topped with pointed sloping roofs. The top of the Rathaus equally stands out with its high-peaked and red shingled roof, and its steeply tilted sides.
Further adding a truly distinct flair, the clock’s dial is clear, allowing one to look inside at the moving gears and inner workings. The transparent face is framed by a rustic crossbeam design, adding further character to the chalet appearance. At the base of the clock, a merry drinking tableau is showcased. On one end, a gentleman dressed in traditional lederhosen stands at a tall table, holding a bottle in his hand. In sync to the cuckoo calls, he raises his bottle up and down against the table. By his side, his faithful dog stands watch close to his feet.
Across the way, a waitress carries multiple glasses of beer, bringing them to serve the table. Behind her, along the side of the stately town hall, a gentle waterwheel leisurely spins along to the melodic strains of the clock’s music box. In the center, beneath the clock’s dial, a curious cat sits atop a wooden bench, staring at a small mouse poking its head out into the open. Other quaint details to the charming scene include a stone and chain fence, miniature gravel, and a stack of barrels.
