A beautiful and intricately carved wooden sculpture, this statue of St. Francis holding two doves is hand carved from maple wood and painted with oil based paint in a beautiful variety of blended and lightly textured colors. The design also features gold plated accents painted along the edges of many of the lines throughout the sculpture. From his calm, peaceful expression and traditional tonsure hair style to his flowing monk’s robe complete with beads and a crucifix, this sculpture is an amazingly lifelike representation of Francis of Assisi. He holds two white doves and a third dove watches over him from its perch atop a tree branch in reference to his love of animals.
