Cuckoo clocks made by Hoenes typically have an adjustment wire with a red knob. Some clocks have an automatic night shut-off position, in addition to the always on and always off position. The automatic night shut-off position is in between the always on position (when the wire is pushed all the way up) and the always off position (when the wire is pulled all the way down). When you pull the wire knob all the way down, the sound should be off.
