On this cuckoo clock, the girl on the rocking horse moves in sync with the cuckoo. This means the girl rocks as long as the cuckoo calls. So at 1 o'clock, the cuckoo bird only calls once and the girl rocks only for a short while. At 12 o'clock though, the cuckoo bird calls 12 times and the girl rocks for the entire time of the cuckoo's chime.
