When you insert the batteries, the clock resets itself to 12 o'clock. After inserting the batteries, move the minute hand clockwise to 1 o'clock and it will chime once. Set the correct time by moving the minute hand clockwise until you get to the current time. Please note that it is important to give the clock time to chime at the full hour.
