Cuckoo clocks with music will always play two songs. 1-Day clocks play one song on the half hour and the other song on the full hour. 8-Day clocks play music only on the hour, alternating between the two songs each hour. On the half hour, the cuckoo calls once. Popular melodies often include traditional German folk songs, such as "Edelweiss" and "Der fröhliche Wanderer" (The Happy Wanderer).
