A beautiful and intricately carved wooden sculpture, this statue of St. Peter holding a book and two keys is hand carved from maple wood and painted with oil based paint in a beautiful variety of blended and lightly textured colors. The design also features gold plated accents painted throughout the inner areas of the robe and along the edges of many of the lines throughout the sculpture. From his calm, peaceful expression and flowing red and gold robe with a grey undergarment to his book and two keys in hand, this sculpture is an amazingly lifelike representation of Peter the Apostle. The book symbolizes Peter’s life as an Apostle throughout the New Testament and carrying the book in which the names of the saved are written and the keys symbolize him holding the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven.
