This Beer Stein is clearly about a commemoration of Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (1892 - 1918), also known as the "Red Baron".

A portrait of the famous fighter pilot is on the front, while the sides are decorated with his red plane (which gave him his nickname), and an old Imperial flag.

Very suitable for the beer mug is the pewter lid with a scale model of the Fokker Dr.1, the plane with which he gained his fame.
