This little Traditional cuckoo clock is a positive delight! It possesses a number of unique features that make it the perfect fit for a variety of decorating styles and occasions. It is also highly desirable due to the fact that it contains attributes of both the Chalet and Traditional styles. Although it is primarily Traditional in its design, as is evidenced by its use of animal and leaf patterns, this interesting cuckoo clock has elements of movement and color more commonly encountered in the Chalet style. At the base of the cuckoo clock, a pair of birds will move in time to the cuckoos. Upon closer inspection, the viewer can see that they are actually tipping forward to feed a baby bird that sits in a nest placed symmetrically under the dial of the cuckoo clock. The birds have glass eyes that add an element of realism to the carvings.
The cuckoo clock's most striking components are the hand painted Alpine Roses used for decoration. These lovely flowers grow in the Alps alongside their more famous cousin, the Edelweiss flower. The bright reds and yellows of the flowers match perfectly to the darker stain of the cuckoo clock’s case. The dark green in the flower stems serves to ground the flowers amongst the ivy leaves that frame the cuckoo clock. The cuckoo clock is crowned with a magnificent top piece of a cuckoo bird poised as if about to take flight. The painted flowers on the leaves to either side of the bird serve to make it even more of a focal point.
