This delightful and colorful Black Forest chalet cuckoo clock has a very unique element – a transparent glass clock dial! This feature allows the viewer to enjoy the intricate and complex inner workings of the clock movement. Portions of the façade that make up the front of the cuckoo clock's case are cut away, leaving only the dark timbers. This reveals even more of the clock’s fascinating interior.

The theme of this particular clock depicts a bustling, hard at work sawmill. Beneath the cuckoo bird, dancing couples spin along the upper terrace. The balcony’s railing motif is carved to resemble a row of trees, while a small cat sits perched upon the railing. The mill’s chalet itself is designed intricately with overhanging roofs, a chimney, a stone wall at the base, and windows featuring shutters and floral boxes. Perched atop the apex of the gabled roof, a bell rings from a small steeple, in time to the cuckoo bird’s calling.

At the base, a horse-drawn wagon carries a large bundle of wooden logs, with the driver pulling up and down on the reins. Behind the cart, a water wheel spins around languidly with the clock’s music. Across the way, a pair of woodcutters are hard at work – one chops with an axe in time to the cuckoo call, while the other saws back and forth with the sounds of the music box. This delightful scene is further embellished with details such as fir trees, grass, and a small St. Bernard dog.
